Anyone know a deserving woman who needs a boost in her business education? We just received notice of a new scholarship competition! They are just beginning their outreach and they wanted to start with Maryland-based schools and organizations to make sure local students have time to find the scholarship and submit an application.

Angie Dipietro is proud to announce the first annual Angie Dipietro Women in Business Scholarship, which will provide $500 to a female student which will help further educational goals in order to create a more diverse and inclusive business community. The deadline to apply is March 1st, 2016. The applicant must be in good academic standing with a minimum GPA of 3.0. A 500 word essay based on this prompt: If you could see one change in gender inequality in your lifetime, what would it be, and why? How do you think this can be achieved? May's featured nonprofit My Girlfriend's House has a mentoring program that is discussing job readiness and preparation for life after high school.   They have asked if any members  would be interested in leading mock audits for their students this month.   The girls will learn how to search for, apply and interview for a job position of their choice. On Saturday, June 27th, they are inviting business owners, HR reps and career counselors to lead mock interviews for their students during their morning workshop.

If you are willing to act as potential employers during the interview process, here is the contact information:

A MOOC is a Massive Online Open Course. A group at MIT is working on classes in entrepreneurship and innovation.  They have recently released two MOOCs on entrepreneurship on edX,  an online education platform created by Harvard and MIT:

    1. "Entrepreneurship 101: Who is Your Customer?"

    2. "Entrepreneurship 102: What Can You Do for Your Customer?"

Since launching this month, the two MOOCs are already home to over 70,000 students from all over the world. These courses are free and available to everyone, but so far only 20% of the students are women!  Check the courses out! You may find the content relevant to your educational and professional goals. The courses feature several successful female entrepreneurs who could be very inspiring to other women in entrepreneurship.  You can find some of the interviews with these women at the following links:

Hanna Adeyema, Co-Founder of Tenacity Health

Amanda von Goetz, CEO of Thyme Labs

    Vanessa Green, CEO of FINsix

Ning Shirakawa, CEO of Native Mind, LLC

Sandra Richter and Jutta Friedrichs, Co-Founders of Changing Environments

    Vimala Palaniswamy, CEO of Demeter

Additionally, students who pass one of these MOOCs with a Verified Certificate will earn $1,000 of credit from Amazon Web Services. (For more information on this credit, visit https://www.edx.org/AWS-activate).

    Sounds like a win-win!!
