A program at Argyle Middle School, a technology magnet school, called the Capstone program.  Students in grade 8 form groups and utilize Junior Achievement curriculum to create  small businesses.  We pair them up with a business or non-profit who meets with the students to discuss a solution to a problem they would like to be solved through technology, or a technology-related product they would like produced.  The students spend the year in development and deliver it at the end of the school year.

There is no cost for the companies or non-profit organization and represents only about 6 hours of a person's time over the course of the school year.  If the companies like and use the technology product we create, we pass over ownership over to the company or non-profit organization so they can use it.

To read all about the program, click  Argyle ASK.docx, and if you have any questions, contact Peter Daddone who is the coordinator of the program.

Thanks to Marcia Custer for representing Montgomery County's Senior Connection at our April meeting.
Marcia explained that for almost twenty years The Senior Connection of Montgomery County, Inc. has provided free volunteer services to our older residents.
There is a growing need for people to volunteer to drive seniors to doctor's appointments, grocery shopping and on other errands, as well as help with other tasks. Unfortunately growing demand for these services has outpaced the addition of new volunteers.

Please consider giving two – three hours per week to help out. It will make a big difference to you and to the people you serve.

For more information, please contact Marcia Custer at 301-962-0820301-962-0820 X14, or download an application on the website at:

Thanks to Debra Liverpool who spoke at our February meeting and discussed the all-encompassing services Family Services, Inc. provide. Their headquarters are located on a campus in Gaithersburg, but their reach extends far into the community. The following is a short list of some of their most pressing needs: baby items (clothing, equipment, formula, diapers), clothing, furniture, and of course monetary donations.
If you're able to assist in this way, it will be greatly appreciated.
